Using EFT (aka Tapping) as a relaxation technique

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique (aka Tapping), is something that I've dabbled in, and recently attended some of The Tapping Solution World Summit (free!) online sessions. I was pleasantly surprised at the results, particularly after doing the short guided meditations which lasted only about 10 minutes.

I recommend the https://www.thetappingsolution.com website as an overview, or starting point. As per the website homepage "...The basic Tapping technique requires you to focus on a negative emotion at hand. This can be a fear, a worry, a bad memory, or any unresolved problem. You do this while maintaining your mental focus on this issue. Then you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on 9 specific meridian points of the body. Tapping on these meridian endpoints, while addressing the root cause of distress, sends a calming signal to the brain. This allows you to feel relaxed and in control."

In my experiences, my concentration and focus increased, my anxiety decreased. After one sleep-focused Tapping session I even managed to fall sleep deeply, which is something that has eluded me for years.

Sometimes I like to guide a short Tapping session at the beginning of some of my yoga classes to allow students to embrace the present moment before engaging in any yoga postures.

If you're curious too, definitely check out some of the many things online, like The Tapping Solution website mentioned above, or The Tapping Solution app...there's a free version!

And you can check out my short (...and one-take!) tapping sequence filmed in the "Zen Garden." :)

Sway...and tap...away!!!
